Swedish mobile network operator Telia has launched a new 5G service specifically targeted at hybrid workers, which provides them with a secure connection to the office wherever they are.

Telia says the new 5G Pro Laptop service, available in 2025, offers hybrid workers a simple and secure 5G connection, whether working from the office or remotely.

The Telia solution provides users with a secure connection directly to a business network via Telia's encrypted 5G network

Computers with the 5G Pro Laptop service installed will include a physical or virtual sim card (eSim), and when the computer is started up, it automatically connects to the mobile network, eliminating the need for Wifi networks.

According to Telia's digital index 2024, one third of all Swedes work as much in the office as in the distance, which means increased flexibility and freedom but also risks associated with digital security, such as unsafe Wifi networks.

Telia's angle with its new product is that, in a work environment, the responsibility for security should not be placed on the user.

"With our new service 5G Pro Laptop, employers can offer their employees a simple, secure and secure connection, no matter where they are," says Tobias Larsson, head of Telia's corporate business.

"By connecting automatically via the mobile network and directly to the business network, the IT department can ensure that all security policies are complied with, without the employees themselves having to lift a finger.

"What you usually call 'zero trust', it must be easy to be sure."

Telia says the 5G Pro Laptop service will be pilot tested in the second quarter and launched commercially later in 2025.
