Australian Cyber Week aims to generate awareness about the Australian cyber security industry and local innovation, through a series of virtual and physical events.

The virtual events will be hosted on AustCyber's virtual conference platform, with in-person events planned for South Australia and Western Australia.

"Cyber Week 2021 is one of AustCyber's flagship activities under our mission to grow a globally competitive Australian cyber security sector," said AustCyber CEO Michelle Price.

"Cyber Week helps to demystify the cyber security industry and connects Australian cyber capabilities with key domestic and international stakeholders who are contributing to the growth and success of the sector. This creates further opportunities to enhance future economic growth."

She added "Each day, Australian Cyber Week has a feature event to demonstrate our globally competitive cyber security ecosystem. The range of speakers is broad – from CEOs of large corporates and venture capital investors, to ethical hackers, school students with a keen interest in cyber, and those in minority groups working within the sector."

The event on 25 October will include a walk-through of a hypothetical yet significant cyber-attack on Australia. The equivalent event during last year's Cyber Week was one of the most attended.

Upskilling and careers with be the focus on 26 October, with an event featuring experts from the ANU, University of Canberra, UNSW, Canberra Institute of Technology and industry.

27 October will see a Dragon's Den style event, where the audience will be able to invest fake dollars and vote for their favourite product or solution as presented by ten of Australia's most innovative companies.

The main event on 28 October will be a debate on the current state of procurement and policy as it relates to the emerging technology sectors within Australia.

29 October will be 'community day.' OSINT Combine will offer an instructor-led day of open source intelligence training, which will be useful training for the National Missing Persons Hackathon (postponed until early 2022).

A variety of other workshops, panel discussions and other sessions are scheduled for Australian Cyber Week, including online cyber escape room sessions that allow participation in an Australian cyber-attack scenario.

Early bird tickets ($129) are available until 30 September, and the full price ($145) applies after that. All events held on 29 October 2021 are free to attend.
