Expanded role for Software AG Sydney exec

By

Sydney-based Software AG executive Stephen Keys has been elevated to a new role in charge of the company’s business in the Asia Pacific, Japan, Middle East, North Africa and Turkey regions.

Frankfurt-based Software AG says Keys appointment as Senior Vice-President for the four regions, follows “significant revenue growth” across the regions.

Keys, who is also a member of Software AG's Global Extended Board, joined the company in 2006 as sales director for the Enterprise Transaction Systems business division before taking on overall responsibility for its sales and consulting services businesses across Asia-Pacific in 2012.

According to Keys, operationally, the regions under his remit saw 40% license revenue growth in 2013 with Middle East, Turkey and Africa combined with Asia Pacific and Japan contributing more than 10% of global revenues.

Keys attributes this to rapid change in the software market, particularly around Big Data and analytics.

Keys says the APAC region's considerable growth came from strong performance in the banking, utilities and telecommunications industry sectors, with an emphasis on the increased uptake for its process automation, integration and intelligent business operations solutions. He attributes growth in these areas, in part, to “broader trends stemming from big data.”

"The business world is changing. We have the ability to process, analyse and action information in vast quantities and faster than ever before.

"Big Data and analytics can help a company outpace competitors, react to external events and even predict future actions. Big Data allows us to think smart, but Big Data and analytics combined allows an organisation to take the right action at the right time."

Announcing an expanded APAC, including Australia, team, Keys said the company’s Australian business was also maturing “with deeper customer relationships and more solutions to offer our customers on the back of five major acquisitions in 2013."

"In turn, our go to market model should also keep pace with this growing portfolio, which is why we've appointed, or promoted, a number of personnel."

New appointments announced by Keys are:

•    Sean Stephens has been appointed as Software AG Live Sales Director for Asia Pacific, based in Sydney. Software AG Live is a cloud-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) suite unifying process improvement, IT portfolio management, agile application development and application integration

•    Michael Evans has been announced as Northern Region Sales Director (NSW, QLD & ACT). Evans started with Software AG in 2008 in account management and add-on sales to existing customers before transitioning to new business acquisition. From 2010, Evans has managed all sales revenue from the ACT. In his new role, Evans will work closely with ex-Oracle Senior Account Director, Gordon Gakovic, now Software AG Southern Region Sales Director

•    Ramesh Subramaniam has been appointed as ANZ Pre Sales Manager. Subramaniam joins Software AG from Yarra Valley Water where he served six years as a Manager of IT Strategy and Architecture. He will be reporting to Greg Taylor, VP of Sales for ANZ, with a focus on building Software AG's Pre Sales capability to expand and follow its growth strategy for 2014 and beyond.
