Telstra added 5G connectivity to its $60 prepaid plan in February 2021, and now offers the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G to go with it.
Available immediately via Telstra.com, the $329 Samsung Galaxy A22 5G features a 6.6in FHD+ 90Hz display, 128GB of storage with a microSD slot allowing additional storage of up to 1TB, a 48MP camera, a 5,000mAh battery (said to be good for up to two days, depending on usage pattern), and 15W fast charging.
However, it lacks NFC, which is a major omission in these days of tap-and-go payments and public transport ticketing.

"5G shouldn't mean unaffordable," said Telstra consumer segment executive Amanda Hutton.
"Telstra's 5G is now covering more than 75% of Australians and we are on mission to bring better connectivity to everyone.
"Adding a 5G-enabled handset to our prepaid range is another step forward in providing mobile technology that can deliver new mobile experiences, seamless streaming and real time gaming to even more people."
Telstra's 5G footprint covers parts of more than 240 cities and towns across Australia.
