Disability services provider Community Connections Australia (CCA) has launched Jeenee mobile, the ‘feel-good Telco’. Available to all Australians, Jeenee will offer regular mobile and data plans at comparable prices within the marketplace. All proceeds from Jeenee will go directly into improving the lives of people with disabilities.
“The original concept of Jeenee was to finally offer people with disabilities an affordable technology solution that provides them with increased independence within the community,” says Dr Robin Way, CEO, Community Connections Australia.
“But to get the project off the ground, we needed to establish Jeenee as a Telco in its own right. This has an obvious benefit to all Australians as anyone in the community is now able to take up their mobile plans with Jeenee while supporting a hugely worthwhile cause.”
Jeenee offers an Android-based mobile and tablet app offering safety, security and peace of mind for people with disabilities and their carers and families. The technology is specifically tailored to the individual needs of each person using the application.

“An additional benefit of Jeenee is a Sydney-based help centre where calls are taken immediately by a consultant and not put through a series of voice-activated prompts only to be transferred to a call centre overseas,” says Dr Way. “This service is available to all Jeenee customers – not just those with a disability.”
The separate Jeenee application is being piloted with over 150 people with disabilities from across Sydney, regional NSW and interstate are taking part in the pilot and are already foreseeing where this technology will take them.
“The app is up and running now,” says Dr Way, “but we know that this is only going to continue to grow. The possibilities for the technology and the benefits that it will provide to people with disabilities, their families and carers are endless. This is the future.
“The best part is that all Australians can contribute to this NOW by taking up mobile plans under the Jeenee platform. The personalised and localised service is unique and the opportunity to dramatically change the way technology is used within the disabilities sector is beyond words. This is a win-win situation for everyone,” says Dr Way.
“We are proud to be the wholesale network provider Jeenee,” said Robert Parcell, Managing Director of Optus Wholesale. “We wish it every success.”
