Endpoint Virtualisation: Symantec strikes back

Symantec is aggressively expanding into the “endpoint virtualisation” space by seriously upgrading its virtualisation capabilities and credentials, buying out nSuite, a ‘virtual workspace management’ company whose product competes with VMware’s VDI solution, Citrix’s XenDesktop and XenApp combo and other competitors.

Large commercial operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, will no longer exist within five to ten years, according to a senior VMware executive. Instead there will only be very thin open source operating systems supporting virtual appliances.
