New Zealand competition regulator The Commerce Commission has filed eight charges under the Fair Trading Act against Two Degrees Mobile Limited for alleged misleading claims about their ‘free Aussie roaming’ for business mobile plans.

A New Zealand Commerce Commission investigation and subsequent High Court proceedings has resulted in more than 2,600 customers being refunded a total of nearly $480,000 after three companies, part of the Vocus Group, breached the Fair Trading Act.

New Zealand online retailer 1-Day has been fined $840,000 for promotional claims on its online store which were liable to mislead consumers about how long its daily deals would run for and the quantity of stock available.

Australian skincare company, Ego Pharmaceuticals (Ego), has pleaded guilty to two charges under the New Zealand Fair Trading Act, for making unsubstantiated representations about the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of two sunscreen products - Ego Sunsense Ultra SPF 50+ and Ego Sunsense Sensitive Invisible SPF 50+.
