Telstra has renewed its contract with Jamcracker - the provider of the cloud services enablement platform underpinning its T-Suite offering of a range of applications as a service, target at SMEs - for a further two years.

Telstra will unveil the latest in its Digital Business suite of offerings aimed at business with less than ten employees, on Monday.

Telstra Business is making a renewed push into the small business market by offering, under the brand name Telstra Digital Business, tailored, 'complete solutions' of basic communications services, unified communications and collaboration tools and cloud based business applications.

Telstra is about to embark on a major promotion to provide integrated and tailored communications, collaboration and cloud services to small businesses. It's an admirable and much needed initiative, but Telstra has tried this sort of thing before, and has little to show for it.

Telstra has identifed network applications and services - including the provision of cloud computing and SaaS to the consumer market - along with media and Asia as new business areas that it hopes will account for at least 20 percent of revenue by 2013.

Six months into its cloud computing hook-up with Telstra, the president of Microsoft's business division has made clear this is how the software giant will manage SME access to its cloud globally, with similar deals with international telcos now in the wings.
