Dell aims PowerVault ME5 at SME market

Dell Technologies' Dell PowerVault ME5 storage devices are aimed at SMEs looking for SAN and DAS units.

Synology is well-known for its range of NAS systems and its powerful DSM operating system. The company has now launched its new HAS5300 series of hard drives for high-capacity, high-performance, and resilient storage. The drives are optimised for performance with Synology products and come in capacities up to 16TB.

Dell EMC's inclusion of dual port Intel Optane SSDs and Storage Class Memory (SCM) as persistent storage in PowerMax servers is an industry first, according to the company.

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has added added NAS functionality, cloud tiering and enhanced VMware integration to its VSP G400, VSP G600 and VSP G800 storage platforms.

New Zealand-based global fisheries group Sealord has ditched traditional hardware based SAN (storage area network) storage for a hyper converged storage solution from Nutanix.
