Pronto beats SAP to ERP contract

Mid-market software vendor and developer, Pronto Software, has beaten off the competition, including SAP, to win a contract with the Australian-arm of Freeworld Coatings, a global specialised coatings company, to implement its ERP solution across Freeworld’s recently restructured Australian operations.

Are Linux apps and games worth paying for?

The Linux operating system is free; you can download it without paying any licensing fees. You can use it in the home, you can run a business on it, even a data centre. You can embed it within tiny custom hardware. Despite this, Linux hasn't become a household name. Paradoxically, it may be the perceived dearth of commercial applications which is a cause.

MYOB says 'yes... maybe' to Manhattan bid

A revised bid from US-Australian takeover vehicle Manhattan Software Bidco has gained qualified support from MYOB's board of directors. It now seems much more likely that the Australian financial software and services company will change hands.

MYOB sells US business, leaves China

In a move that signals a return of MYOB to its core operations, the accounting software company has divested itself of its US business and pulled out of China after a fruitless three years. MYOB has sold its US operations including the development of its Mac accounting software to its local distributor, Acclivity.
