The ‘covered list’ contains equipment and services deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States and should be removed from any government infrastructure.

Chinese surveillance camera manufacturer Hikvision is the latest firm from that country to face the threat of US sanctions, with a report saying that the action would be taken on the alleged grounds of enabling human rights abuses.

The US Government claims that a number of top Chinese companies, including telecommunications equipment maker Huawei and video surveillance firm Hikvision, are owned or controlled by the Chinese military, Reuters reports.
