GoConnect (ASX: GSN) - which has launched free advertising sponsored Wi-Fi in Flinders Street Station in conjunction with ISP Netbay Internet - is to provide free Wi-Fi to Melbourne shopping and entertainment complex, the Jam Factory, under an exclusive arrangement.

GoConnect has named the first advertisers it has signed up to support the free WiFi hotspots to be rolled out in the Melbourne CBD by Netbay Internet.

Users of a free WiFi service to be offered at Flinders Street station from March will be the first in Australia to get weather information via the US's Weather Channel.

The free, advertising funded WiFi service planned for the Melbourne CBD by local ISP, Netbay Internet and GoConnect (ASX: GCN) - which will be responsible for the advertising - has gone live for a three month trial in Flinders Street station.

GoConnect (ASX: GCN) says it expects the free WiFi services it is planning to offer in the Melbourne CBD in conjunction with ISP Netbay Internet should launch by the end of February.

GoConnect (ASX: GCN) has teamed up with Boston-based Sonicbids, a website that helps bands discover and book gigs, to launch a new media platform for performing artists to connect with the music industry and their fans. It will be one of the first services on the company's soon-to-be-launched IPTV service.
