Huawei donates funds to Deaf Australia

Huawei Australia is donating over $34,000 to Deaf Australia following its partnership with the charity and the Canberra Raiders in the National Rugby League Charity Round last month.

In an address to the National Press Club in Australia, Deaf Australia CEO Kyle Miers hailed the success of the Huawei-developed StorySign Artificial Intelligence technology and has called for additional funding to help increase the usage of similar new technologies to support greater numbers of deaf Australians.

Huawei Australia is partnering with NRL club Canberra Raiders and Deaf Australia – the deaf-led peak organisation representing deaf people in Australia – to attempt to break a World Record at the Raiders vs Manly Sea Eagles National Rugby League (NRL) game this coming Sunday (25 August) in Canberra.

Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei has launched an artificial intelligence-powered app that can enrich story time for people who are hard of hearing or deaf.
