Switch to FttN claimed to reduce value of NBN

An experienced telecommunications executive says a broadband network that is 60% fibre to the node will be worth much less than one which has a majority of fibre to the home connections when a bid to sell it off is undertaken.

Kenya stands 21st in the world in Internet broadband speeds — 30 ranks above Australia in the latest Akamai quarterly report. And this is being pointed to by advocates of a largely fibre set-up at home as one more indicator that something needs to be done urgently to fix the rollout of the National Broadband Network.

Abbott and Turnbull kill off Labor's NBN for good

Labor's vision for a fully fibre NBN is officially dead, buried and cremated as of today with the Abbott government announcing it has repealed the blueprints issued under the Labor government to build the National Broadband Network using fibre-to-the premise technology.
