Security vendor Trustwave has detected an outbreak of router-based cryptojacking in Brazil that is spreading to other parts of the world.

The Los Angeles Times website is serving a cryptocurrency mining script which appears to have been placed there by malicious attackers, according to a well-known security expert.

The Coinhive miner which mines for the monero cryptocurrency was found on the websites of Showtime Networks on Saturday but the company has yet to make any public statement about it.
