The City of Sydney is urging residents and business owners to switch to GreenPower to drastically cut their emissions, after survey results showed many residents didn’t know it existed.

New buildings will be more energy efficient, use more renewable energy and support the transition to net-zero emissions, according to City of Sydney which has released a plan to include energy targets in development applications. 

The City of Sydney has announced it will target net zero carbon emissions by 2035 – five years earlier than previously planned – in a move to help avert catastrophic climate change.

The City of Sydney is now powered by 100% renewable electricity, generated from wind and solar farms in regional NSW.

Renewable electricity is slated to power all city-owned properties in Sydney from July 2020 with the unveiling by the Sydney City Counci of what’s been described as the biggest standalone renewables deal for an Australian council.
