GUEST OPINION by Jamie Atherton, country manager ANZ, Hyland:  As digital transformation continues to drive new solutions and services across the A/NZ region and organisations look for more flexible options, moving some, or all services to the cloud is becoming the deployment choice for many.

Global cloud revenues in 2019 brought in US$233.4 billion (A$324.7 billion), with the top five public cloud providers — Microsoft, AWS, Salesforce, Google and Oracle — accounting for more than a third of this figure, the technology analyst firm IDC says.

Technology analyst firm Canalys says data it has collected in the second quarter of 2020 show that Google Cloud is the top cloud service provider to the retail sector.

China will account for one-third of the Asia Pacific cloud computing market by 2023, according to a new report which forecasts that with the increasing presence of ‘hyper-scale’ cloud providers in big data, analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), cloud has emerged as a compelling proposition for the enterprises and governments alike.

Enterprise app migrations, new ‘microservice’-based app designs and container technologies will create further disruption and fuel innovation in the public cloud market over the next two years, according to research firm Forrester.
