GUEST RESEARCH: The latest OT/IoT security report from Nozomi Networks Labs finds wiper malware, IoT botnet activity, and the Russia/Ukraine war significantly influenced the 2022 threat landscape. Continuing the trend that was observed in the first half of 2022, Nozomi Networks Labs researchers saw hacktivists shift tactics from data theft and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks to utilising more destructive malware in an attempt to destabilise critical infrastructure to further their political stance in the Russia/Ukraine war.

There have been 86.93 million brute-force attacks on systems in Australia through the Windows Remote Desktop Protocol between February 2020 and February 2021, the global security firm Kaspersky has found.

The man called the invisible god of networks aka Fxmsp by the security firm Group-IB compromised more than 135 company networks and sold access to them in 44 countries over three-plus years, raking in at least $1.5 million, the firm says in a detailed document about him. The name is taken from a quote in an ad posted by a user Lampeduza to promote Fxmsp's services: "You will become the invisible god of networks."
