Watch re-creation of Apollo 11 Moon landing

The Kennedy Presidential Library will begin coverage of the first Moon landing by the NASA Apollo 11 mission on Thursday, July 16, 2009, forty years after Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins were launched into space with their Saturn V rocket. It’s all on WeChooseTheMoon.

Endeavour, STS-127: GO for space launch

On Wednesday, June 3, 2009, NASA gave the official “thumb’s up” for the launch of space shuttle Endeavour and its STS-127 crew to the International Space Station. It’s another assembly mission as NASA steadily makes progress for the completion of the Station.

Hubble repair mission to be on IMAX 3-D

NASA announced on May 4, 2009 that its STS-125 mission to service and repair the Hubble Space Telescope will be filmed by IMAX Corporation and Warner Brothers Pictures for a three-dimensional film called Hubble 3D.

Astronauts test themselves for space cooties

Two of the STS-119 astronauts onboard the International Space Station tested themselves for possible biological contamination before taking a spacewalk in what NASA calls the "first-ever test of planetary protection technology."

First on Feb. 20, 1962: John Glenn orbits Earth

On the first attempt by the United States to orbit a human around the Earth, NASA astronaut John Glenn became the first American to be successfully placed in Earth orbit. The date was February 20, 1962, and Glenn was piloting his spacecraft called Friendship 7.

NASA to air HD tour of International Space Station

During NASA’s mission STS-126 to the International Space Station, ISS Expedition 18 commander Mike Fincke filmed a high definition (HD) tour of their "four-bedroom house" in space. The video will soon appear on NASA Television.
