Thick, low clouds halt STS-130 launch

NASA is hoping for clear sailing on Monday as its space shuttle Atlantis crew prepares to launch for its mission delivering and installing spare parts to the International Space Station. The weather forecast predicts a 90% chance for acceptable launch conditions.

STS-128 delayed again: Valve problem

The Wednesday, August 26, 2009 launch of the space shuttle Discovery was scrubbed again, but this time because of a suspect valve in the main propulsion system. The scheduled launch date is now set for Friday, August 28, 2009, if repairs can be made in the meantime.

NASA: Ares takes over Shuttle launch pad 39B

NASA announced on May 31, 2009, that its Launch Pad 39B at Cape Canaveral, Kennedy Space Center, has been transferred from the Shuttle Program to the new Constellation Program. Pad 39B will be readied for the first flight test of its new Ares I rocket, now scheduled for August 2009.

On February 20, 2009, NASA announced that STS-119 mission managers remain concerned with the readiness of space shuttle Discovery to fly. Additional tests on its flow control valves are necessary before it delivers the S6 truss segment to the Space Station.

NASA's STS-119 rescheduled for Feb. 27

NASA officials have delayed the space shuttle Discovery launch from February 22 to 27 because they are still concerned with the shuttle’s fuel tank pressurization values. The mission is important to NASA and the world space community because its astronauts will install the last set of solar panels to complete the power grid for the International Space Station.
