Telstra and Optus open Note9 pre-ordering

By

Telstra is offering the Note9 with a bonus black 2017-model Galaxy Tab A 8.0 tablet and a free upgrade to the 512GB model, while Optus has announced pre-ordering for the Note9 and Galaxy Tab S4 with free storage capacity upgrades, too.

Both Telstra and Optus have announced pricing and deals for the pre-order period of Samsung's new Note9 smartphone.

Telstra customers can pre-order in Telstra stores, via Telstra's call centres and at this Telstra Note9 website

Although the Note9 will be available from 24 August from 8am in two colours, Midnight Black and Ocean Blue in both 128GB and 512GB variants, Telstra's special deal for pre-ordering customers is that they will receive a "bonus, black, Samsung Tab A 8.0 (2017) as well as receiving an automatic memory upgrade to the 512GB version of the Galaxy Samsung Note9".

Complete pricing details across a range of plans are at Telstra's site here.

Kevin Teoh, Telstra’s head of Mobiles, said: “The Samsung Galaxy Note is very popular with our customers and for good reason – the series is renowned for product innovation with its S Pen, Infinity Display and camera technologies.

“We are really excited by the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy Note9, in particular how the new 6.4 inch screen is going to marry with Telstra’s industry leading content offerings – such as the hottest sport live, fast and data-free and 24 months Foxtel Now, that we offer on selected plans. We are also thrilled to be able to offer this new premium handset on our new selection of plans that make excess data charges a thing of the past.”

Optus is also offering the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 as well as the Note9 on pre-order, with full details on Note9 pricing here, and Tab S4 pricing here

As with Telstra, Optus is also offering the special pre-order offer where "customers will receive a complimentary memory upgrade on the Galaxy Note9 with a 512GB handset instead of 128GB, and for the Galaxy Tab S4 receiving a 256GB tablet instead of 64GB, when they pre-order before 11:59pm (AEST) on 23 August".

Just as Telstra offers a Foxtel Now subscription with one category of content with some of its plans, so too does Optus have options for additional paid content, which include:

  • Access to Optus Sport, so that fans can watch every match of the Premier League, with the 2018/2019 season kicking off this weekend, plus a huge range of premium European football live;
  • Hundreds of hours of science and nature documentaries and movies with exclusive access to the National Geographic app;
  • Music streaming from iHeartRadio, Spotify, and Google Play Music (subscriptions required) without using their monthly data allowance; and
  • Mobile TV streaming to their plan to enjoy watching Netflix, Stan and ABC iView (subscriptions required) for an additional $5 per month without using their monthly data allowance.

In addition to the Premier League, Optus Sport "has secured the Australian rights to an enormous range of football including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Europa League for the next three years, as well as UEFA Nations League, UEFA Nations League Finals, UEFA Euro 2020 for the next four years, plus the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019".

"Optus continues to provide Optus Sport to all Australians at no cost until 31 August."
