The Witcher roams free on Steam

It may not be a particularly romantic gesture but game distribution company Steam is allowing gamers to play the critically-acclaimed The Witcher series for free this weekend.

The games, from Polish developer Projekt Red, are 80% off until 18 February making the original, The Witcher: Enhanced Director's Cut $2 and The Witcher 2: Assassins os Kings Enhanced Edition just $4.

Both games were extremely well-received, with each receiving over 80 on review aggregate site Metacritic.

The move coincides with Valentine's Day but also the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which launches in Spring for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
