Foxtel announces Hubbl app line-up for new streaming platform designed to take fatigue out of subscriptions Featured

By

Late last year Foxtel Group announced its new division and new platform Hubbl, which is designed to overcome subscription fatigue with one device to rule them all. Now the broadcaster has revealed the app line-up with a mix of local and global options.

Hubbl was announced in October 2023 and is going to appear in two forms - the first as a Hubbl Hub box that plugs into any compatible TV and one that iTWire expects will be like Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and others of this ilk. The second form will be Hubbl Glass - a TV with an integrated soundbar and the Hubbl app built-in. Hubbl Glass will run with simply a power cable and an Internet connection.

While Hubbl is designed to take the pain and fatigue out of subscription services, with the intention being one single app that brings together all your content and makes them discoverable in a single interface, details were not available on what the initial line-up of apps would be. Foxtel and Hubbl have now released this information.

The initial line-up of Hubbl services will be:

  • Netflix
  • Disney+
  • Amazon Prime Video
  • YouTube
  • Apple TV+
  • Paramount+
  • Kayo Sports
  • Stan
  • Binge
  • Optus Sport
  • Flash
  • ABC iView
  • ABC Kids
  • SBS On Demand
  • 7Plus
  • 9Now
  • 10Play
  • LifeStyle

All of these are existing services, except for LifeStyle, which is a brand-new streaming app that will launch on the platform.

Additionally, Stan, Optus Sport, and Paramount+ will not be available on day one but will join the platform shortly after launch.

Hubbl claims its platform will make streaming, searching, watching, and subscription management easy.

Hubbl CEO Patrick Delany said, “Hubbl will effortlessly fuse free and paid entertainment and sport from Australia’s favourite apps, channels, live TV and the internet into one seamless user experience. Hubbl is only as good as the breadth and depth of apps integrated into the platform to ensure a truly converged streaming experience and in removing frustration when it comes to the choice of what to watch. It’s a huge testament to the transformative Hubbl technology that these world-class and much-loved local partners have chosen to reshape the streaming experience with us. The future of TV and streaming is here.”

Details on Hubbl pricing, specs, features and on-sale date will be announced soon.
