The AccelerComm 5G Ecosystem Partner Program has added open telecom solutions provider Radisys to its roster, which will enable original equipment manufacturers to seize opportunities for non-terrestrial network 5G communication, extending coverage to areas that were previously inaccessible due to high costs, and allowing applications that were previously deemed too expensive.

The collaboration aims to enable Satcom technology with 3GPP standards-compliant solutions.

Additionally, it will promote cross-compatibility with Radisys’ NR-NTN gNodeB software, NTN 5G Core (5GC) and Multi Non-3GPP Interworking Gateway (AGF/TWIF) software for interworking with legacy NTN technologies, and RIC for monitoring and control of multi-layer/ad-hoc reconfigurable satellite networks.

Last year, AccelerComm and Radisys announced a joint effort to develop Regenerative 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) reference solution and architecture based on 3GPP standards for deployment on low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

The endeavour integrated the expertise and intellectual property of both companies, along with additional technology from ecosystem partners, to create a 5G regenerative gNodeB (gNB) solution tailored to support 5G services.

“We are confident that this strengthened partnership will continue to drive significant innovation in 5G NR communication, ultimately benefiting our customers with enhanced performance and new business opportunities,” said AccelerComm CEO Tom Cronk.

"We are pleased to partner with AccelerComm in their Ecosystem Program," said Radisys head of mobility software and service business Munish Chhabra.

"This collaboration represents a significant milestone in our long-standing relationship with AccelerComm.”

“Together, we have pushed the boundaries of 5G technology,” he claimed.

Radisys Corporation, a provider of open telecom solutions, announced that Korean small cells player Qucell Networks is leveraging Radisys' Connect RAN gNodeB software to enable and deploy 5G small cell solutions for global markets. The integrated commercial-grade 5G small cell solution is being trialed in multiple operators’ networks across the globe.

Radisys says its 3GPP-compliant Connect RAN 5G software enables an elastic and agile 5G network tailored to meet the unique requirements of diverse 5G applications with minimised CAPEX, improved time-to-market, and shortened time-to-revenue.

Qucell Networks’ 5G small cells meet varied requirements and enable multiple deployment scenarios in mmWave, Sub-6 GHz, Non-Standalone (NSA), Standalone (SA) and support use cases in residential, enterprise, and outdoor scenarios.

Radisys says its Connect RAN gNodeB software enables Qucell Networks’ 5G small cells to support high capacity, robust connectivity, low latency and secure 5G networks for advanced uses cases such as smart factories, healthcare, education, stadiums, enterprises, retail and other private 5G use cases.

The ruggedised and feature-rich 5G small cell solution from Radisys and Qucell offers operators a commercial-grade, deployment-ready solution, Radisys stated.

Radisys said its Connect RAN 5G is the first-to-market protocol software compliant with 3GPP Release 16 and delivers enhancements in functionality, capacity, coverage, latency, mobility, reliability, and ease of deployment. They said it also supports the FAPI and nFAPI specifications from the Small Cell Forum (SCF), and it is compliant with O-RAN Alliance architecture. Connect RAN 5G software won the SCF Small Cell Award for Outstanding Contribution to Small Cell Open RAN Platforms.

The software is available integrated on multiple industry-leading platforms to accelerate global 5G deployments.

“We are seeing growing demand for 5G small cells as global operators roll out their 5G networks and enterprises seek to deploy 5G private networks,” said Radisys SVP and general manager of mobility software and services business Munish Chhabra.

“We’ve teamed with Qucell to meet this demand with a pre-integrated, feature-rich solution for our customers.”

“We are excited to partner with Radisys on 5G small cells that deliver robust connectivity and high performance for a variety of indoor and outdoor use cases,” said Qucell Networks CEO Young-Soo Kwak.

“Radisys is the leader in 5G software, and this integrated solution offers our joint customers an easy path to 5G deployment.”

  • Radisys Connect RAN software selected by Celona for private 5G LAN solution
    in 5G

Radisys Corporation, a provider of open telecom solutions, announced that Celona, a provider of private 5G solutions, has selected Radisys’ Connect RAN 5G Software to speed the deployment of its end-to-end 5G LAN solution.

Private cellular networks continue to gain traction as more enterprises realise the distinct advantages of deploying their own 4G and 5G networks to support specific use cases that demand the highest levels of deterministic wireless connectivity. 5G private networks uniquely deliver to organisations a myriad of benefits over conventional wireless alternatives including greater control over user access, data confidentiality, network performance and quality of service levels. All traffic types generated within a private network are processed locally to ensure the highest security, data privacy, and lowest latency for enterprise applications vital to improving business productivity.

Radisys says that Celona’s end-to-end 5G LAN delivers a fully-integrated private wireless solution purpose-built for enterprise use. With it, enterprises can better address the new connectivity needs of next-generation AI-based and edge-compute powered applications. Celona’s 5G LAN solution is offered as a subscription-based service with all hardware and software components optimised for seamless integration of cellular wireless with existing enterprise IT infrastructures.

Radisys adds that its 3GPP Release 16 compliant Connect RAN 5G CU/DU software, with the flexibility of Opt-2 and Opt-6 functional splits and single to multi-carrier support with bandwidths ranging from 10 MHz to 100 MHz for DL and UL-heavy TDD slot configurations, is most suitable for shared spectrum deployments.

Radisys’ software is performance optimised for ARM based SoC, with an option for Cloud deployment and provides a rich feature set, enabling a faster time-to-market for Celona, the company stated.

Celona VP of product management Puneet Shetty said, “To take full advantage of the benefits of 5G private networks, enterprises need access to cloud-native software that easily integrates with their current IT infrastructure. Radisys’ 5G RAN gNB CU/DU software has allowed us to quickly develop a unique turnkey LTE/5G LAN that gives enterprises the power to quickly deploy, own and operate their own private mobile network.”

Radisys SVP and general manager of mobility software and services business Munish Chhabra said: “Radisys’ award-winning Connect RAN software helps Celona accelerate its 5G LAN time-to-market, and we are pleased to partner with Celona to deliver a complete solution for private network deployments. Radisys’ Connect RAN software is integral to enabling private networks that support ultra-low latency, high network availability, high device density capabilities for enterprise 5G services.”
