Speech input isn't magically delivered to every form - instead it must be explicitly supported in the HTML. To demonstrate how it works, Google has added speech input to the Google Translate form. Click the grey microphone icon in the lower right corner of the input box, and the browser will start listening.
How well does speech input work? You'll have to answer that for yourself - this writer's voice and speech recognition - whether speaker dependent or independent - don't seem to get along very well. For example, when he said "wine", Google Translate showed "####" as if an obscenity had been uttered.
Chrome's aggressive auto-update feature means the new version may already be on users' computers.
