Cybersecurity Advisors Network announces new international board

In the wake of a year rocked by pandemic and escalated cyber threats, the Paris-based not for profit Cybersecurity Advisors Network today announced new appointments to its international board.

Sydney based Kim Chandler McDonald and Milan based Australian Nick Kelly join APAC regional head Peter Coroneos as the Cybersecurity Advisors Network continues its expansion into the region.

Re-elected to the board for a further two year term are:

• CyAN President, Jean-Christophe Le Toquin,
• International Vice President and APAC head Peter Coroneos
Dr Gergely (Greg) Dzsinich from Hungary; and
• Netherlands based, Mr Hein Dries.

M. Le Toquin welcomed the new appointees saying their addition was “a vote of confidence from members on the value of the network to Australian cyber professionals.”

He added, “APAC has been a growth centre for CyAN’s membership since it was established in 2019 and we are delighted to have strong representation there with these appointments”.

“Kim Chandler McDonald and Nick Kelly both bring to the Board an amazing depth and diversity of experience as well as lifting the proportion of APAC representation in line with our
presence there,” he said.

Kim Chandler McDonald: "The importance of cyber security is immense and the issues surrounding it increasingly multi-jurisdictional; CyAN, with its global membership, is superbly placed to move the cyber arena forward through coordination, collaboration, clarity, discourse, debate and experience. I’m immensely pleased to bring my own perspective and expertise, as an international, female-founder of a Frontier/Deep Tech organisation, to this inordinately accomplished table."

Nick Kelly: 'One of the many lessons even luddites learned over the course of this year - a year that has taken its place in the pandemic pantheon - is just how reliant we truly are on technology, and how relieving (and humbling) it is that the moving parts to keep us connected haven't buckled. Contrarily, as the members of our preternatural network are acutely aware, more use portends misuse, and organisations such as CyAN have never been more crucial than they are now. I'm sanguine about the future impact CyAN can have on bettering the net, and as one of the newly-appointed board members, I feel privileged to be playing a part in how that can happen.'

Mr Coroneos captured the upbeat mood of the new board when he added, “We’re really looking forward to the coming two years as we emerge from the pandemic and collectively grapple with the heightened cyber threat environment it has brought as workers moved outside the traditional workplace security perimeter.”

He concluded: “The future of cybersecurity as a profession looks strong, as governments and enterprise at all levels continue to build cyber resilience into their cultures, systems and processes.”

“The power of global collaboration and information sharing is a valuable defence in our efforts to counter cybercrime and the shared passion within CyAN makes it great organisation to be part of.”

On a separate note, Peter Coroneos also hosted the incredibly successful 30th Anniversary of the Internet in Australia Gala Dinner and celebratory event in 2019, with full videos of the event and Peter's thanks to the 400 Australian Internet luminaries that made the event such a memorable success, with full details and videos of the event here
