Cisco Secure Application combines security with application insights

Cisco subsidiary and APM specialist AppDynamics has announced Cisco Secure Application, which aims to simplify vulnerability management and protect applications from attack.

Cisco Secure Application, part of the AppDynamics platform, correlates security and application insights, thus reducing alert fatigue as well as providing real time threat detection and automatic breach prevention, the company said.

With Cisco Secure Application, IT teams can have both security and velocity, according to company officials.

Benefits include automatic runtime protection through behavioural monitoring, simplified vulnerability management, security insights based on business impact, and a shared context for application and security teams.

"Enterprise IT Organisations are often considering how to transform and align their security, application development, and operations tools, processes, and teams," said IDC program vice president for DevOps and I&O team Stephen Elliot.

"Application vulnerability management is one of the key capabilities where transformation can be accomplished, while delivering substantial business benefits."

Cisco senior vice president and general manager of security and applications Jeetu Patel said "A slow or under performing application can significantly impact the user experience, but when an application’s security is breached and exploited, it can be life altering for the end user. Companies simply cannot afford to ignore the risk.

"Secure Application is the first of its kind to deliver this level of security insight that empowers both application and security teams to safeguard customer and organisation assets while delivering a best-in-class digital experience."

AppDynamics with Cisco Secure Application is currently accessible through early availability.
