Aruba introduces AIOps combining network and security insights for improved IT efficiency

By

Aruba has announced its new Aruba Edge Services Platform (ESP) AIOps capabilities which aids IT professionals by greatly reducing the time they spend on manual tasks like network troubleshooting, performance tuning, and Zero Trust/SASE security enforcement.

The new features are part of Aruba's growing family of AIOps solutions, all helping overtaxed IT teams manage increasing network complexity and the growth of IoT, now including critical security controls and performance optimisation, complementing network troubleshooting.

With the growth of hybrid work and digital transformation initiatives, IT teams must modernise networks but also find efficiencies to manage. AIOps with powerful analytics, insights, and automation mean network teams can focus on strategic, higher-value projects and reduce the time they spend on manual tasks.

Aruba's AIOps capabilities have been in development since 2013 and leverage Aruba's data lake that collects and analyses data from more than 120,000 Aruba Central customers, more than two million network devices, and more than 200 million clients per day. This vast and rich scale of data provides Aruba with the unique ability to give insights tackling network and security concerns.

The end result is Aruba AIOps is a trustworthy tool to automate tasks, reduce the time to troubleshoot and remediate issues, increase security controls, and ultimately improve the experience for network users and network administrators.

“Our customers tell us that it’s incredibly hard to find technical staff and they need to do more with less,” said Aruba director South Pacific Pat Devlin.

“When applying machine learning and AI to the network you want your models to make accurate predictions, but accurate predictions rely on a very large and diverse data lake. Aruba’s vast data lake consists of deployments in every vertical, more than 100,000 customer configurations, more than 2 million devices under cloud management, and more than 200 million connected devices. This data lake provides the richness and diversity needed to train our machine learning models to solve everyday network issues," Devlin said.

“When we talk about AIOps, we’re showcasing how we can solve real problems in real time, and we’re helping customers manage networks better with fewer people and less specialist expertise.  We are delighted to see our offering of AIOps solutions continue to develop and grow as network modernisation solutions move to the forefront of business agendas” he said.

The new AI-powered IT efficiency features include:

  • Aruba Client Insights: Automatically identifies each endpoint connecting to the network with up to 99% accuracy. This is especially important as increasing numbers of IoT devices are added to networks, sometimes without approval from IT. This allows organisations to better understand what’s on their networks, automate access privileges, and monitor the behaviour of each client’s traffic flows to more rapidly spot attacks and take action.
  • AI-powered Firmware Recommender: Provides IT teams with the best version of firmware to run for the wireless access points in their environments – regardless of model numbers. This greatly reduces support calls and guesswork that network admins face and helps ensure new features and fixes are implemented quickly.
  • Automated Infrastructure Predictions: Leverages Aruba’s AI Assist feature and Aruba Support outreach to recognise possible hardware and software infrastructure issues for pre-emptive engagement that can consist of firmware upgrades or recommended hardware replacement.

Aruba Client Insights is available now. AI Search, AI-powered Firmware Recommender, and Infrastructure Predictions are available for early access and will be generally available in early 2023. Each of these features is included in Aruba Central Foundation licensing.
