VMware hires Kopelke as tech leader

VMware has appointed Sean Kopelke as its senior director of technology for Australia and New Zealand.

"Sean brings deep experience in leading technical teams and helping a broad range of customers ensure they gain the best outcomes from their transformation strategies," said VMware ANZ vice president and managing director Brad Anderson.

"As businesses adapt to changing times, Sean's expertise in cloud, security and emerging technologies will provide VMware's customers with significant value as they make decisions on digital strategies to be ready for the future. I'm very pleased to welcome Sean to the team."

Kopelke has been working in IT for more than 25 years.

He joins VMware from Microsoft, where he worked as a regional technical director.

Kopelke's previous senior positions include APJ vice president of sales engineering at Riverbed, regional director at Zscaler, APJ director of managed service providers at FireEye, and senior director of solutions engineering at Symantec.

Earlier in his career he worked at Mincom and Boral in hands-on IT roles.

Kopelke is a former chairman of SNIA ANZ.
