Intelematics hires Symons as head of tech

Traffic data specialist Intelematics has appointed Dr Anthony Symons to the role of head of technology and data.

"Anthony has a proven track record for delivering transformative services and solutions and under his leadership our development and data teams will be at the forefront of the connected vehicle evolution," said Intelematics CEO Nick Marks.

Symons joins Intelematics after spending 12 years at Optus, most recently as strategy and architecture manager for Optus Business..

He previously owned ITSM Partnership, and worked as an ITSM consultant at Queensland Health, as a solution architect with HP, and as a senior software engineer at LeadUp Australia and CiTR.

Symons holds a PhD in computer systems engineering from the University of Queensland.

"Over the past twenty years Intelematics has developed an enviable reputation as a leader in mobility solutions," said Symons.

"With the rise of 5G and the next generation of connected vehicles on the horizon, there is a significant opportunity to help the Australian market harness these technologies and transform the way we use our roads, manage our fleets and maintain our vehicles."
