Various reports are suggesting a leaked version of BBM, or BlackBerry Messenger, for Android, reached over a million downloads in just one day, but the app was plagued with various bugs and issues which are now being fixed.
The struggling Canadian phone manufacturer took to Twitter to alleviate user concerns, "We know you're waiting. Pausing #BBM4All rollout to fix issues caused by unreleased BBM for Android app," the company said.
Apple users have already been able to jump on the BBM for a few days now, seemingly without incident.
BBM is a rival service to apps like WhatsApp and Viber, allowing users to send free messages via their data service. BBM is most notable for its security features, however every message is highly encrypted, making the service popular amongst protest groups and anyone weary of government surveillance.
