Cisco - which has seen its market value fall 34 percent in the past 12 months - is to close its Flip camcorder business and make major changes to the rest of its consumer focussed operations in a move that will see it shed 550 jobs and take a $US300m hit this financial year.
Executives in the US, and soon perhaps in Asia, with an adequate broadband connection will be able to take part in corporate telepresence videoconferences from the comfort of their home - thanks to a connection between Cisco's Å«mi home telepresence service and its TelePresence product for the enterprise market.
Cisco has unveiled a swag of new products centred around its two year old 'medianet' concept, saying they represent a new category of 'medianet-enabled' products.
