A new cyber threat campaign that is claimed to be targeting public and private entities, including national security organisations in the Middle East and North Africa, has been discovered by Cisco's Talos Intelligence Group.

A campaign that targets government domains in Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the private Lebanese airline, Middle East Airlines, has been uncovered by Cisco's Talos Intelligence Group, which claims that the attackers appear to have studied their intended victims' networks well enough to remain inconspicuous.

Researchers at Cisco's Talos Group say they are fairly sure that a cyber attack during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on Friday, using Windows malware, was only aimed at disrupting proceedings and did not involve any data destruction or exfiltration.
