The IEEE has published two important new standards for WiFi mesh networking and peer-to-peer communication between WiFi devices. It says the latter could produce a 10 fold increase in the data rate between connected devices.

Juniper has made a $US152m foray into the WiFi networking business, agreeing to acquire Trapeze Networks, a specialist in enterprise WiFi technology, including mesh networks, from Belden, which claims to be retaining is focus on wireless technology.
