Google ignores licence-violating clones of VLC

Cloned versions of the popular VideoLAN media player, better known as VLC, with ads embedded and in violation of the VLC licence, have been residing on the Google Play Store for a long time with the search company doing nothing about them, it is claimed.

VLC getting Chromecast support

If you're thinking of picking up a Google Chromecast now that they have hit Aussie stores there's good news - popular open-source media player VLC will soon have Chromecast support in its iOS app, and there are update plans for Android, Linux, Mac and Windows apps too.

VLC dev accuses Apple of licence infringement

Rémi Denis-Courmont, one of the core developers of the VLC media player, has formally notified Apple that it is indulging in copyright infringement by distributing the media player for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
