Australian ASX 100-listed data centre operator uses Vertiv prefabricated modular infrastructure to speed Port Hedland facility build time and strengthen data centre performance in the Pilbara region

Digital infrastructure operator Vocus has signed a deal with Google to provide the highest-capacity submarine cable systems in the south Pacific between Australia and the US.

ASX 100-listed technology firm and data centre-as-a-service provider NextDC will open its next centre in the Pilbara, the company says, adding that the new Tier III-certified outlet is named PH1 Port Hedland.

Australian specialist fibre and network solutions provider Vocus has switched on the first international fibre-optic cable into Darwin, facilitating a new entry point for international data and establishing the area as a digital hub in the Asia Pacific.

The Vocus Group, Australia's fourth largest telecommunications outfit, has successfully connected its high-speed fibre-optic North-West Cable System to the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project and Shell’s Prelude floating liquefied natural gas facility located off the north-west coast of Australia.

Australia’s first purpose-built, subsea, fibre-optic network, servicing the oil and gas industries and the North West growth corridor with telecommunications services, is now operational following its completion and integration into Nextgen’s national transmission network and Metronode’s national network of data centres.

Nextgen Networks has secured a deal with mining company Roy Hill to provide high-speed data connections between the miner’s communications system in Port Hedland and its Perth-based remote operations centre.
