University of California researchers surprisingly found that when peeling back commonly used adhesive tape the motion between the two surfaces generates electromagnetic radiation in the form of high-energic x-rays. Cool!

Researchers from Yale University have conducted a study showing compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) instead of incandescent bulbs produce a net global reduction of toxic mercury emissions. However, not all parts of the world should use them—instead they should stay with incandescent bulbs. Why? Find out below!

U.S. astronomers Alicia Soderberg and Edo Berger, Princeton University, were observing the NCG 2770 galaxy when they noticed a rapidly brightening spot, which eventually faded. They had just seen, for the first time by anyone on Earth, the birth of a supernova using x-ray emissions.

According to U.K., German, and Australian astronomers, the brightness of galaxies is really twice as bright as they appear at Earth because of extra-large amounts of interstellar dust blocking the light between them and us.
