ITU blasts IETF over MPLS standards stoush

The ITU has fired a second salvo in its war of words against the IETF over their split on standards for operation and management of MPLS networks, laying the blame squarely on the IETF.

The International Telecommunication Union (IT) has hit back at claims from the Internet Society (ISOC) that its decision to split from the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) on MPLS standards will jeopardise the integrity of the Internet.

The Internet Engineering Taskforce (IETF) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have decided to go their separate ways in the development of standards for multiprotocol label switching (MPLS): a move that the IETF warns could jeopardise the future interoperability of the Internet.
