Xbox man slags off PS3, oh the irony

File under: no surprise there then. However, it wasn't that fact that a Microsoft man was slagging off the Sony PS3 just before Xmas that caught my attention, but the irony of what was being said.

Microsoft has claimed a three-to-one Black Friday weekend victory for Xbox 360 over PlayStation 3. If the figures prove to be correct, Sony's expensive console could be in for a walloping at the sales counter this Christmas.

New official Nintendo magazine launched in ANZ

Nintendo, the gaming console manufacturer that has risen like the proverbial Phoenix from the Ashes over the past two years on the back of the phenomenal success of the Wii, has teamed up with a UK-based publisher to launch an official news stand magazine.

After the Nintendo Wii and PS3 launched in 2006, preceded by the Xbox 360’s 2005 debut, all three consoles now have excellent software libraries and plenty of users. While the Nintendo Wii still leads in total consoles sold, Microsoft has more than 300 games and great popularity all its own, a nice price cut pre-Christmas looks a very timely move.

So those pics of the new iPod nano were spot on, as were the rumours about iTunes. The nano comes in 9 colours, there’s a new iPod Touch with speakers, volume control, Nike+ and 36 hours of audio, and OS 2.1 software arrives at last – but there’s no 64GB iPod Touch, and no 32GB iPhone 3G.
