Researchers at Rice University in the US have developed technology that they say could double the capacity of today's cellular networks, without the need for more spectrum or more base stations.

News emanating out of the US of a new and "revolutionary" wireless technology have, predictably, been seized on by opponents of the NBN that the Government should not be putting $36b worth of eggs in one technology basket, namely FTTH. Before they shoot off at the mouth the Cassandras of the NBN should read the claims for the technology more closely.

DIDO to make fibre NBN a DODO?

While the Australian Government extols the virtues of its $36 billion plus fibre optic based National Broadband Network project, a new sunrise wireless technology has just been unveiled that threatens to make the massively expensive fixed line fibre network obsolete before its rollout is even completed.
