A consortium comprising Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), SK Broadband (SKB), SoftBank, and Verizon - the E2A Consortium - have announced a project to build a new transpacific submarine cable system, E2A, that will connect Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and the US.

Taiwanese operator Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has selected Finnish telecoms vendor Nokia for a one-year extension deal to modernise its 5G network across the central and southern regions of Taiwan.
