Equinix tackles AI-related IT challenges with over 4,000 cabinets in Sydney and Melbourne

COMPANY NEWS:  To support the rising need for high-density power, advanced cooling and interconnection as demand for digital infrastructure accelerates including artificial intelligence (AI), Equinix, the world’s digital infrastructure company®, invested AU$240 million (approx. US$160 million) to add a total of 4,175 cabinets to two of its International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centres - SY5 in Sydney and ME2 in Melbourne.

Businesses need to embrace interconnection and maximise their networking capabilities to compete in today’s digital economy, according to data centre company Equinix’s Australia managing director Jeremy Deutsch.

Interconnection and data centre company Equinix is expanding its International Business Exchange data centre in Perth, to meet what it says is strong demand for a digital interconnection hub on the west coast of Australia.

The Australia Singapore Cable network will open the door for a new strategic data route — the Great Southern Route — connecting South East Asia to North America via Australia, according to owner Vocus, when it opens for business in July 2018.

Global interconnection and data centre operator Equinix has announced that the Vocus-owned Australia Singapore Cable will be made available to customers across its International Business Exchange data centres in Melbourne and Sydney.
