Global tablet shipments grew by 1% year-on-year in the first three months of 2024, the technology analyst firm Canalys says, with another tech analyst company, IDC, reporting a rise of 0.5%.

Global shipments of tablets and Chromebooks both fell last year, with the former dropping 3.3% year-on-year while the latter fell a much bigger 48%, according to information technology analyst firm IDC.

Tablet shipments fell by 8.8% year-on-year in the third quarter, coming in at 38.6 million units, making this the fifth successive drop, the technology analyst company IDC says.

Global shipments of tablets had a big fourth quarter in 2020, with 19.5% year-on-year growth, translating to 52.2 million units, according to preliminary data from the technology research firm IDC.
