VIDEO Interview: DDLS, learning solutions with a dynamic dimension

By

Technology certification is big business in today’s IT driven world, where quality knowledge and professionalism is vital in delivering value to employers, employees and customers.

DDLS is Dimension Data Learning Solutions, a wholly owned but independently run training business subsidiary of Dimension Data that operates across Australia to the highest standards.

Having won numerous awards, DDLS has partnered with every major company to deliver the most relevant training.

Take a breath as we go through the impressive list: DDLS is a gold learning partner of Microsoft, a Cisco Learning Specialised Partner, a VWware training centre partner, a partner of ACS, AIPM, an Apple authorised training centre, a Check Point Pure Advantage partner, a Citrix partner, a Cisco Great Equaliser training partner, an IIBA partner, an itSMF partner, a Pearson VUE partner, a PMI partner, a Prometric Partner and a Systemation partner, it’s clear that DDLS is a serious, serious player in the Australian IT training and certification business.

The company itself says it ‘promotes a balanced approach to training with a focus on the key areas of Technology, Process and People,’ and provides ‘extensive training options tailored to [each] organisation's needs, from vendor-certified courses to customised training, including bespoke in-house developed courses.’

Given the range of partnerships above, this includes learning delivery methods and platforms suited to various individual and corporate requirements, a range of testing centres located nationally, a whole range of learning solutions and assessment services, a managed learning service and the similar sounding but different learning management systems.

The range of course subjects is vast, with each course heading comprising of various subjects within.

The courses are on every major company and tech trend, including Apple, applications, business analysis, Check Point, Cisco, Citrix, COBIT, CompTIA, EC-Council (security and ethical hacking), F5 Networks, IBM, ITIL, Java, Microsoft, Polycom, professional development, Red Hat, Scrum, service support, SFIA, TOGAF and VMware.

While the company topics will include certifications and more on various aspects of each company’s technologies and solutions, courses such as professional development include communications, sales, productivity, leadership, professional development for IT and even ‘tact & diplomacy’.

So, with great power comes great responsibility, given that DDLS is helping so many students reach the next levels in their learnings, knowledge and careers, so we decided to have a chat to the company to find out more about how it operates.

We spoke to Gary Duffield, the company’s passionate National Marketing and Vendor Manager, who himself has an great story on how he got into technology in the first place, and how we came to work for DDLS despite being born on the other side of the planet.

Here is our interview - no doubt if you want to know more, Gary and DDLS would love to talk to you!
