Bump Technologies co-founder and chief David Lieb didn't dislose terms of the deal, but AllThingsD reported the deal was worth between $US30 million ($A32.19 million) and $US60 million ($A64.39 million).
The company's popular Bump and Flock applications, for iOS and Android, will remain available free to users.
"We couldn't be more thrilled to join Google," Lieb said in a blog post on the Bump website on Monday.
"Bump and Flock will continue to work as they always have for now; stay tuned for future updates."
The Bump application lets smartphone users easily share data by 'bumping' their firsts while holding devices, while Flock enables automatic photosharing with friends.
"Our mission at Bump has always been to build the simplest tools for sharing the information you care about with other people and devices," Lieb said in the blog post.
"We strive to create experiences that feel like magic, enabled behind the scene with innovations in math, data processing and algorithms. Google is a company that shares our belief that the application of computing to difficult problems can fundamentally change the way that we interact with one another and the world."

"The Bump team has demonstrated a strong ability to quickly build and develop products that users love, and we think they'll be a great fit at Google," the company told AFP.
