ADF eHealth system rollout underway

By

The Defence eHealth Information System is being implemented for the Australian Defence Force's Joint Health Command by CSC.

The Defence eHealth Information System will hold the health records of each member from enlistment to retirement, and the information will be available to ADF health professionals at the point of care and at all levels of management.

The project began in 2011, but the rollout didn't start until April this year, and the parties have only just announced it.

The system has been rolled out in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, and will be fully operational around Australia by the end of 2014.

Other partners in the project are (EMIS) Ltd, Kellogg Brown and Root Pty Ltd (KBR) and PwC Australia.

"This represents a significant milestone in our ability to improve the health outcomes for all members of the ADF," said Commander Joint Health Command and Surgeon General of the Australian Defence Force Rear Admiral Robyn Walker (pictured, right).

CSC Australia managing director Seelan Nayagam said "CSC in partnership with the Department of Defence is successfully delivering one of the most complex business transformation programmes undertaken by the ADF."

Mr Nayagam added "CSC has been a trusted partner for the ADF for 42 years, and this implementation cements our position as one of the leading systems integrators in both Health and Defence in Australia."
