Nanoleaf lights come in all kinds of shapes and types - and quite literally, you can get straight lines, hexagons, triangles, and more. You can get lightstrips, skylights, downlights, even regular light bulbs like A60, B22, and GU10.
The kinds of lights differ in whether they plug into an existing light socket you have in your home or space - and replace a conventional light fitting, or whether they supplement your lighting with new options. The shapes and lightstrips fall into this latter category; so long as you can connect them to power and Wi-Fi these lights will brighten up all kinds of areas. Use them behind your television, along your kitchen cabinetry, illuminating your stairways, and simply to make a dynamic feature wall.
No matter the type, what they all have in common is you can set the lights to a remarkable range of colours and animated light shows. They can be on-demand or scheduled. You can control them from your phone or a computer, through voice from a smart assistant, or via gadgets like the Elgato StreamDeck. You can sync them with other lighting solutions you have in your home such as Corsair iCue so your keyboard, mouse, headset, and walls deliver a harmonious, immersive gaming experience.

iTWire has previously tested out Nanoleaf light products as well as some of the newer products, which continue to bring innovation and utility to the Nanoleaf range.
For example, the Nanoleaf Essentials Matter Smart GU10 lights provide a three-pack of bulbs that can replace your existing spotlights or downlights. I've tested these in my own front doorway, and installation was no more complex than unscrewing the previous dumb bulbs and screwing in the new Nanoleaf ones. Immediately, I had more energy-efficient LED bulbs. After connecting them up in the Nanoleaf smartphone app I then had bulbs I could turn on and off through a vast array of options without needing to physically touch the switch, or even be home. It's entertaining to adjust colours, but it's also a great safety feature to have my lights come on at a variable time near sunset each day.
However, these aren't simply another addition to the Nanoleaf range; they also reflect Nanoleaf's committment to Matter over Thread, a modern connectivity standard for smart home and IoT devices. This far beats proprietary IoT connection options which require a proprietary hub. Instead, Matter devices can use any of a raft of Matter-compatible hubs/thread border routers, such as the Apple HomePod mini, Google Next Hub, Amazon Echo, Samsung SmartThings Station, and more. What's more, you don't even need a Matter hub; you can control the lights directly from the Nanoleaf app via Bluetooth.
These lights were so helpful and easy to use, iTWire further augmented them with the Nanoleaf Essentials Matter Smart Recessed Downlight two-pack with 90mm cutout.
As with the GU10 bulbs, these downlights easily swap out your existing lights and work immediately out-of-the-box, giving you 110mm x 55mm Matter over Threads smart lighting with more than 16 million colour options.
And, as mentioned, other light bulb choices exist, as well as all kinds of Nanoleaf options to adorn a surface where you don't even have existing lighting.
For instance, Nanoleaf released new string lights last month, which can give you a beautiful, brilliant space that is limited only by your own creativity. They come in 15m / 20 bulb and 30m / 40 bulb options, with extra 15m / 20 bulb expansion packs available to let you keep adding on up to a maximum of 45m per lightstrip. Each bulb is individually controllable, and again, can be managed via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Matter over Wi-Fi, using the Nanoleaf app, smart assistants, the included controller, or via all kinds of other IoT smart home ecosystems.
