In December 2014, iTWire reported that cloud point of sale provider Kounta had hired Jason Seed to lead its nascent US operation.
Two months later, Kounta has launched in the US.
"We're entering a busy market, but one that's ripe for disruption," said Seed, pointing to long-established companies such as NCR.

This openness extends to other business applications such as accounting software. Kounta integrates with MYOB, QuickBooks, Saasu and Xero, as well as mobile ordering service Beat the Q, loyalty and marketing service Collect, and mobile bar tab service Aston Club, among others.
"We have built an open POS platform that runs on iOS, Android, Windows or Mac, is easy to use on existing or future hardware, incredibly flexible, and powerful from day one," said Seed.
"Kounta is a true open platform that scales with its clients, and that's why we are here now."
Pricing starts at $50 a register a month.
Kounta's channel program will soon be unveiled, according to the company.
