IBM claims a new TPC record

By

IBM has set a new TPC-H 1000GB benchmark record for non-clustered systems with its new System x 3850 X5 server.

IBM has released new x86-based servers in the System x X5 and BladeCenter eX5 families, featuring greater memory capacity, faster processors, and more internal SSD storage.

A System x 3850 X5 server has set a new record for non-clustered servers on the TPC-H 1000GB benchmark, beating the previous leader by 24% on performance and 52% on price/performance.

It has also set a new four-processor record for the two-tier SAP SD standard application benchmark of 14,000 SAP SD users.

"The new System x servers are designed for data and will help keep IBM customers ahead of the curve when it comes to preparing for a new era of applications," said Adalio Sanchez, general manager, IBM System x.

"With our innovation leadership we are delivering systems optimised for big data; systems that deploy extended memory, for example, to allow businesses to not only handle new streams of data, but to help convert them into new revenue streams."
