Just two months into his role as APAC President for i-PRO, one of the global leaders in professional security solutions, Surajit says that since the introduction of AI, security cameras have become a key force in surveillance and public safety.
i-PRO has been around for more than 60 years in the security industry, as the longest-existing camera manufacturer, formerly known as Panasonic Security. It became an independent company in 2019 globally, and 2022 in APAC and Surajit says the company is aiming to become a leader in AI-driven technology.
“i-PRO is a pioneer in the AI era. Nearly all our line-up has edge computing capabilities enabling customers to get real-time analytics, forensic searches and data-based decision making,” he said.
Real use examples include:
- It can count forklifts passing through the camera’s field of view to provide metrics about operational efficiency
- A hospital can count ambulances arriving at the emergency room.
- It can identify a parcel that may have been left too long.
“The possibilities are endless, and the future is bright. We have a vast experience and know-how, a reputation for exceptional reliability, durability, backed by rigorous testing and Japanese engineering precision with the latest edge computing technology to make the best out of our superior image quality.
“We combine our know-how with the premium chip to achieve maximum performance, ensuring faster and more accurate AI detection with fewer false alarms. This differentiates us not only from a processing time but also a lower power consumption.”
Another major differentiator is Open and Flexible Integration. i-PRO embraces an open-platform approach, making its technology customisable and compatible with various AI vendors and cloud services. With Docker technology, customers can easily integrate new features and expand system capabilities.
“There is also responsible innovation – knowing that we are doing is the right thing when it comes to protecting privacy from a cyber security standards point of view. We believe all of these offers the consumers peace of mind which is important to us.”
Customers in Australia include the Department of Justice as well as in the traffic monitoring and the education and healthcare sectors.
Surajit says that what underpins the technology is the ever-evolving AI ethical principles.
“The technology will continue to evolve as will the standards in terms of how you use AI in an ethical way to make it safe and secure as a society. Those standards will evolve as we move forward and that is important to us.”
Surajit runs i-PRO from the company’s Singapore office. He has nearly 30 years of experience working with large global companies such as Bosch, Honeywell, Regal Rexnord and Philips in a variety of leadership roles from sales, product and marketing and business development.
